WhatsApp was born in 2009 and now it’s the most engaged instant messaging service in the world. Over the years, the Facebook-owned platform has evolved to integrate more tools to connect its millions of users around the world. However, not all of them are well known.

1. Change the text format in WhatsApp

You can add a different intention to your messages through bold, italics or strikethrough. You just have to add a couple of characters before and after the text: * bold * , _cursive_ and ~ crossed out ~ .

2. Temporary messages
These “self-destructing” messages serve to protect valuable information as they disappear after a while. To use this function, one of the newest in the application, you must:

Good News! Now Book Private Driver Through WhatsApp

New Delhi: On demand-driver hiring platform, DriveU on Monday launched a first-of-its-kind, fully automated way to book a private driver through WhatsApp enabled through an AI-powered chatbot.

DriveU enables consumers to hire temporary drivers to drive them for their regular shopping, running errands, business meetings, airport drops and pickups, day-to-day commuting, outstation travels and attending social events at restaurants, bars, concerts, weddings, parties and more.

“DriveU has always strived to make booking a driver frictionless. With this solution, we aim to solve issues like poor connectivity, reluctance to download another app. All one needs to do is chat with us and easily create a booking with just a few message exchanges,” Ashok Shastry, Co-founder and COO, said in a statement.

According to the company, past two months have witnessed a significant uptick in bookings. DriveU’s data suggest that consumers are becoming more confident to venture out of their homes and use service providers such as DriveU, which ensures flexibility and safety in their own vehicles.

Present in nine cities, DriveU has a network of verified and trained drivers on demand.

अगर आप Wifi Aware के बारे में नहीं जानते हैं, तो बता दें कि यह एक Neighbour Awareness Networkig है, जो बिना किसी एक्सटर्नर डिवाइस के एक स्मार्टफोन को दूसरे से कनेक्ट करने में मदद करता है। 9to5Google की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक WifiNanScan ऐप सेलेक्टेड स्मार्टफोन पर ही चल सकेगा, जो एंड्राइड 8 और उससे हायर वर्जन को सपोर्ट करते हैं। इस ऐप की मदद से यूजर बिना ब्लूटूथ और वाईफाई के आपस में मैसेज और डेटा शेयर कर पाएंगे। Google के दावे के मुताबिक ये ऐप पूरी तरह से सुरक्षित है। इस ऐप की मदद से यूजर्स नेटवर्क की मदद से सुरक्षित तरीके से प्रिंटर पर डॉक्यूमेंट भेज सकते हैं।

यूजर्स को होंगे ये फायदे

Google ऐप के फोन में इंस्टॉल होने पर यूजर्स को किसी भी नेटवर्क पर लॉग-इन नहीं करना होगा। कंपनी का दावा है कि Wifi Aware ऐप की मदद से बिना इंटरनेट कनेक्शन के आप किसी भी रेस्टोरेंट में सीट बुकिंग और मूवी टिकट बुक कर पाएंगे। मतलब अगर आपके फोन में इटरनेट कनेशन नहीं मौजूद है, तब भी इंटरनेट वाले सारे काम किये जा सकेंगे। Google के इस ऐप को Google Play Store से डाउनलोड किया जा सकेगा। यह ऐप एक मीटर से लेकर 15 मीटर तक के दायरे तक काम करता है।

Google’s move to halve its Play Store fee to 15 percent has failed to cut ice with entrepreneurs in India, who say the levy is still steep and amounts to misuse of its monopoly.

Google had announced on March 16, 2021, that it was reducing its service fee effective July 1, 2021, from 30 percent to 15 percent, for the first $1 million of the annual revenue of each developer. Any money made above that would be charged at 30 percent.

According to entrepreneurs Moneycontrol spoke to, while halving the play store commission is welcome, the cut that developers have to pay is still huge.

“This is atrocious,” Murugavel Janakiraman, founder, Matrimony.com told Moneycontrol. He added that it is dangerous for a platform to have so much power and is an abuse of dominance, especially when the dependence is high on the Android ecosystem. Over 95 percent of smart devices in India run on Android.

“Why can’t its users decide what platform they want to use for paying,” he asked, referring to Google’s insistence on integration with Play’s billing system.

In September 2020, Google mandated integration with the Google Play Store billing system and a commission of 30 percent for in-app purchases of digital goods.


The search giant has categorised digital goods that can be purchased in-app. This includes items like virtual currencies, gaming characters and avatars, subscription services such as dating apps, music content and functionality like app-free content or premium features.

This earned a huge backlash from the Indian tech ecosystem. Indian startup entrepreneurs including Paytm founder Vijay Shekar Sharma made representations to the government to intervene. In fact, reacting to Google’s latest announcement, Sharma tweeted, “When we are forced to use a payment system that charges 15-30 percent per payment, it can’t be acceptable by anyone. The Digital India dream must not be ransom to such monopolies.”

India’s competition watchdog Competition Commission of India launched an investigation into Google’s Play store dominance and its promotion of Google Pay on November 9, 2020.

Many questions

Sameer Samat, VP, Product Management, said in a blog, while making the latest announcement “With this change, 99% of developers globally that sell digital goods and services with Play will see a 50% reduction in fees. These are funds that can help developers scale up at a critical phase of their growth by hiring more engineers, adding to their marketing staff, increasing server capacity.”

However entrepreneurs are questioning why they need to pay this when they are already spending a large chunk of advertising dollars on Google.

Currently, Indian firms do not have to pay for the in-app purchases of digital goods their users make on the platform. This is because the integration with Google Play Store billing is not mandatory.

But companies will have to comply with this by March 2022 if they want to continue to sell through the play store. Google Play Store, which comes pre-loaded in the Android phones, enjoys a significant market share in India.

For entrepreneurs in India, this translates to dependence on the play store to tap into the market. Bobby Garg, co-founder & CEO, Passion Gaming, which runs Rummy Passion, said that even at 15 percent the fee was very high.

He said further clarity was needed on what this means for real money games such as fantasy sports, and online casino games. Currently, RMG are not allowed on Google Play Store in India whereas it is allowed in certain countries like the US, UK, Japan, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, and European countries such as Germany, France and Belgium.

While it might not be applicable in India yet, Garg says, it is not clear if the deposits users make are also charged with the commission. “Not all transactions made on the app is revenue for the firm,” he added.

But…

With Atmanirbhar gaining momentum, there is a huge support right now for the Indian app ecosystem. Rohan Verma, CEO, MapmyIndia, said, “An Indian play store would be incredible and will give choice to consumers.”

Efforts were made in this area already. Last year October, Paytm launched its Paytm Mini app store. Launched in March 2020, PhonePe’s Switch has over 100 partner apps on the platform for grocery, shopping, and also travel apps. IndusOS, an Indian app and content delivery platform on Android, launched in 2015 and works with OEMs like Samsung.

Though these initiatives are in the right direction, they may not be adequate to take on the might of Big Tech.

Janakiraman explained that while having an India app ecosystem is what is needed, companies cannot do it alone. “We need intervention from the government and their support,” he said.

This was, at least in part, the idea behind the Atmanibhar Digital India Foundation, which was formed in January 2021 to counter the dominance of big tech like Google, Facebook and Amazon to advise the regulators on legal and policy framework.

However, it is yet to be seen if this would help boost the ecosystem and take on the tech giants.

Royal Enfield के शौकीनों के लिए खुशखबरी है, देश की प्रमुख परफॉर्मेंस बाइक निर्माता कंपनी जल्द ही बाजार में अपनी कुछ नई बाइक्स को लेकर आने वाली है। आने वाली इन बाइक्स की लिस्ट में पुराने मॉडल्स के नए फेसलिफ्ट वर्जन के साथ ही नई बाइक्स भी शामिल हैं। इन बाइक्स को कई मौकों पर टेस्टिंग के दौरान स्पॉट किया गया है, जिसके बाद इनसे जुड़ी कुछ खास बातें भी सामने आई हैं। तो आइये जानते हैं इन आने वाली बाइक्स के बारे में –


नई Royal Enfield Classic 350: कंपनी की बेस्ट सेलिंग मॉडल क्लॉसिक के नए मॉडल को कंपनी अगले साल बाजार में पेश कर सकती है। हाल ही में इस बाइक को टेस्टिंग के दौरान स्पॉट किया गया है। जानकारी के अनुसार कंपनी की यह नई बाइक J1-349 मोटर प्लेटफॉर्म पर तैयार की गई है। इस बाइक में कंपनी नेविगेटर फीचर को भी शामिल करेगी, जो कि बाइक को मौजूदा मॉडल से बेहतर बनाएगा।

Royal Enfield Hunter: रॉयल एनफील्ड बाजार में अपनी नई बाइक हंटर को अगले साल तक पेश कर सकती है। हालांकि अभी इस बाइक के बारे में कोई जानकारी नहीं मिल सकी है। जानकारी के अनुसार यह बाइक रेट्रो क्लॉसिक स्टाइल पर बेस्ड होगी। कंपनी इस बाइक में 350 की क्षमता का इंजन प्रयोग करेगी। यह मौजूदा क्लॉसिक 350 मॉडल के मुकाबले और भी कॉम्पैक्ट होगी।

Royal Enfield Cruiser 650: कंपनी जल्द ही बाजार में अपनी नई हैवी क्रूजर बाइक को भी लॉन्च करने की तैयारी कर रही है। हालांकि अभी इस बाइक के नाम से पर्दा नहीं उठा है, लेकिन इसे कई मौकों पर टेस्टिंग के दौरान स्पॉट किया गया है। मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार कंपनी इस बाइक में 648cc की क्षमता का इंजन प्रयोग कर रही है, जो कि 47bhp की पावर और 52Nm का टॉर्क जेनरेट करता है। ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि इसकी कीमत तकरीबन 3.50 लाख रुपये के आस पास होगी।


Royal Enfield Roadster: कंपनी अगले साल बाजार में नई ट्वीप सिलिंडर क्रूजर मोटरसाइकिल को पेश कर सकती है। हाल ही में इस बाइक को टेस्टिंग के दौरान स्पॉट भी किया गया है। इसमें कुछ नए फीचर्स को भी शामिल किया जाएगा, जैसे कि पुल बैक स्टाइल हैंडलबार, टियरड्रॉप फ्यूल टैंक, स्पलिट सीट्स और एलॉय व्हील दिए जाएंगे। मीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार कंपनी इस बाइक को ‘Roadster’ नाम दे सकती है।

NASA releases first audio from Mars, video of Perseverance rover landing

The U.S. space agency NASA on Monday released the first audio from Mars, a faint crackling recording of a gust of wind captured by the Perseverance rover

NASA also released the first video of last week’s landing of the rover, which is on a mission to search for signs of past life on the Red Planet.

A microphone did not work during the rover’s descent to the surface, but it was able to capture audio once it landed on Mars.

NASA engineers played a 60-second recording

What you hear there 10 seconds in is an actual wind gust on the surface of Mars picked up by the microphone and sent back to us here on Earth,” said Dave Gruel, lead engineer for the camera and microphone system on Perseverance.

The high-definition video clip, lasting three minutes and 25 seconds, shows the deployment of a red-and-white parachute with a 70.5-foot-wide (21.5-meter-wide) canopy.

It shows the heat shield dropping away after protecting Perseverance during its entry into the Martian atmosphere and the rover’s touchdown in a cloud of dust in the Jezero Crater just north of the Red Planet’s equator.

“This is the first time we’ve ever been able to capture an event like the landing on Mars,” said Michael Watkins, director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which is managing the mission.

“These are really amazing videos,” Mr. Watkins said. “We binge-watched them all weekend.”

Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA’s associate administrator for science, said the video of Perseverance’s descent is “the closest you can get to landing on Mars without putting on a pressure suit.”

Perseverance is healthy’
Jessica Samuels, Perseverance’s surface mission manager, said the rover was operating as expected so far and engineers were conducting an intensive check of its systems and instruments.


“I am happy to report that Perseverance is healthy and is continuing with activities as we have been planning them,” Ms. Samuels said.

She said the team was preparing for a flight by the rover’s small helicopter drone dubbed Ingenuity.

“The team is still evaluating,” she said. “We have not locked in a site yet.”

Ingenuity will attempt the first powered flight on another planet and will have to achieve lift in an atmosphere that is just one percent the density of Earth’s.


Perseverance was launched on July 30, 2020 and landed on the surface of Mars on Thursday.

Its prime mission will last just over two years but it is likely to remain operational well beyond that. Its predecessor Curiosity is still functioning eight years after landing on Mars.

Over the coming years, Perseverance will attempt to collect 30 rock and soil samples in sealed tubes to be sent back to Earth sometime in the 2030s for lab analysis.


About the size of an SUV, the craft weighs a ton, is equipped with a seven-foot-long robotic arm, has 19 cameras, two microphones and a suite of cutting-edge instruments.

Mars was warmer and wetter in its distant past, and while previous exploration has determined the planet was habitable, Perseverance is tasked with determining whether it was actually inhabited.

It will begin drilling its first samples in summer, and along the way it will deploy new instruments to scan for organic matter, map chemical composition and zap rocks with a laser to study the vapor.


One experiment involves an instrument that can convert oxygen from Mars’ primarily carbon dioxide atmosphere, much like a plant.

The idea is that humans eventually won’t need to carry their own oxygen on hypothetical future trips, which is crucial for rocket fuel as well as for breathing.


The rover is only the fifth to set its wheels down on Mars. The feat was first accomplished in 1997, and all of them have been American.


The United States is preparing for an eventual human mission to the planet, though planning remains very preliminary.

Bitcoin hits $40,000 for first time, but sharp drop expected

Bitcoin topped $40,000 for the first time on Thursday, as it continues a rally that has seen the digital currency climb more than 700% from a March 12 closing low. Increased demand from institutional, corporate, and more recently retail investors has powered bitcoin’s surge this year, attracted by the prospect of quick gains in a world of ultra-low yields and negative interest rates.



The world’s most popular cryptocurrency climbed as high as $40,402.46 and was last up 6.1% at $39,100. It crossed $30,000 for the first time on Jan. 2 and $20,000 on Dec. 16. Smaller coins ethereum, the second largest in terms of market capitalization, and XRP, the fourth biggest, gained 1.8% at $1,231 and 31% at 32 US cents, respectively. Both currencies often move in tandem with bitcoin.



Some investors viewed bitcoin as a hedge against inflation amid enormous monetary stimulus aimed at battling the economic devastation caused by COVID-19. Market participants though warned a correction could be in the cards after a scorching rally.

“While further growth is inevitable, investors should not expect this to move in a straight line,” said Gavin Smith, chief executive officer of cryptocurrency consortium, Panxora Group. “The reality is that bitcoin is far from being a magic money tree, nor is it free from downward price swings. In fact, we can expect dips as sharp as 25% at times as investors periodically withdraw profits,” he added.


Bitcoins surge happened as the market cap for the entire cryptocurrency sector topped $1 trillion on Thursday, according to data trackers CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko. Glassnode, which provides insight on blockchain data, noted that retail interest in bitcoin has increased the last few weeks, with the number of bitcoin addresses or wallets holding a “non-zero amount” of the virtual currency reaching an all-time high of more than 33 million.


The information provider also said while interest in bitcoin and news coverage have grown, it is far from being in bubble territory. The number of daily new bitcoins has still not reached 2017 levels, Glassnode said, suggesting the currency is experiencing strong organic growth in adoption, but not the sort of “viral growth typical of a bubble.”
